My book is my own again

Well, the big day is finally here, The burden of the contract is gone, and I have full control of my debut novel once more. All failures and successes are completely from my efforts. I can choose to post excerpts without asking permission, and no one is going to profit from my hard work while doing nothing themselves.

Not that there's been a profit turned. o,.,o

It's taken me most of a year to move through my bitterness and resentment of Crescent Moon Press. Critical success on my part, as that negativity nearly killed my desire to write. Today would have been unremarkable in my previous mindset.

Fortunately, I found some zen about the whole situation. I see the events more as part of a learning experience, and as the stepping stone that it was. Without someone taking a chance on my book and actually publishing me, I'd have never felt successful and talented. Without someone showing me the ugly world of publishing, I'd have never thought to self-publish and strike out on my own.

So, thank you, Crescent Moon Press, for gambling on a crazy girl and her vampire book. You changed my life, and taught me a plethora of new things. You fucked me over, and caused me to despise my own creation. Our time is finally over, the hellish years are at an end, and we are both free to do our own thing.

That covers the farewells. On to the re-release party!

CreateSpace has the physical copy of my book, with the new cover and everything. I wish it could be cheaper, but it is what it is.

I've chosen to enroll in KDP Select for the ebook. This means until March 11th, only Kindle owners can get this re-release version. Sorry, Smashwords, but I wanted to see what this would do for my readership. As soon as I have a link for All Hallows Blood in the Kindle store, I'll put it up.

Thanks to everyone who never gave up on me. I love you, and I needed your support.

Here's a preview

This is the story I'm working on while biding my time until the rerelease of All Hallows Blood. A preview of it, anyway. The plot changed a bit when I started, so this scene is changing up a bit too.

Still, enjoy a bit of vampire feeding, and meeting characters Alexi and Rook.

Strong Enough - Varick and Serilda #flash story

Here's another story I wrote about my vampire siblings a while back. Same time as First Feeding.

Sure, it's a little incestuous, but I don't think that siblings loving each other is necessarily a bad thing.

New All Hallows Blood cover

Since Crescent Moon Press decided to take my book down early, I decided I could show off the new cover early. There may be a few changes made before then, but this is the new vision for the book.

Simple, bright, to the point. Without those stupid stock image models that didn't reflect my characters.

First Feeding - Varick and Serilda #flash story

Here's a story I wrote a year or so back, then did nothing with. Technically, it's a little long for a flash story, but I don't feel like calling it anything else.

This is based on Varick's history given in Midsummer's Unveiling. No big spoiler that there's tragedy in his history. Plus, this is more about the interaction between him and his sister. Enjoy.

Varick’s enraged growl filled the aether.

#Flash story - Diary of a temple cat

I am Acolyte Mackerton no more!

Today I passed my final trials. Master Shadow was most pleased with my progress. I'm his youngest student to attain Guardian rank. The other acolytes stare and fail to hide their jealousy.

And well they should be jealous. Most of them are of temple cat lineage, weaned on the rites of worship, reared amidst fellow guardians of the Truth. I'm a humble street cat, with no great family name to carry, yet they struggle ten whiskers behind me. As if temple blood solves everything.

Tail flicks to all of them! I hope they choke on a hairball and reincarnate as a pigeon.

Slow blink. Relax. Purr-ditate. I am a Guardian now, and must behave like one. Emotional outbursts, especially in regards to lower ranks, are unbecoming. Master Shadow will expect my best behavior as I join his temple. He's trained his humans well, and they will have certain expectations of his protege. May I never mouse again if I shame him.

Guardian Mackerton hit the 'nip a little hard.
It's just so hard to not get excited! Tomorrow marks the first full day of my new rank. Everyone will watch Master Shadow and I leave, and will see me with new eyes. My little pink pads will very shortly tread the stones of a real temple, not the facade of the training halls. Humans will worship me, and I will have an actually piece of the Truth to guard.

Tail flicks to it all! Tonight is for catnip and playfighting. Tomorrow is soon enough for Guardian Mackerton to don his serious whiskers.

Book update and a picture

Well, I sent off the letter notifying cancellation of my contract. Woo hoo! Just two months until All Hallows Blood is back in my possession.

Meanwhile, enjoy this picture.

Here's a 1280x1084 wallpaper I made. Practicing a text effect tutorial, trying to learn more about layer styles.

Appears once more

Hello everyone. *waves* It's been a long, strange journey to get where I am right now. My words just aren't enough to convey everything that's happened.

So I'm not going to try. Some shit happened, both good and bad. I nearly lost it, but I came through only a little worse for the wear.

I'm back on the internet, but it won't be like before. I really don't give a rat's ass about marketing myself anymore, and don't intend to play a role to get sales. Nor am I concerned with said book sales. I never wanted the fortune part, just the fame. I want to interact with readers, to know I touched them in some way, not just cash a check.

Though cashing checks is nice. o,.,o

Writing won't be my main focus anymore. I'm still going to post stories, and I'm prepping All Hallows Blood for release when its contract ends, but there's going to be more of my artwork and crafting, more opinions, and less salespitch bullshit.

Changes are coming. Should be pretty fun to watch them at work.
