Sketch - work in progress

Here's a preview of a painting I'm doing for my sister-in-law.

I'm working slowly on it, because my confidence in painting is still pretty much in the dirt.

And to answer Draven's question that I never posted in October: no, my art isn't done with a mouse.  I've got a graphic tablet, so it's like using a pen, without looking at my hand.

  1. Wow. I'm surprised that you use a graphic tablet. Is that some sort of electronic device? The picture actually looks like a painting. That is, something done by hand.

great job. I like the extremely blue eyes.

  2. Yeah, this is so close to looking real. I will have to look into this. Is this an inexpensive holiday gift? That is really cool. Did you look at a picture?

  3. I love how he is coming together. He gets yummier every time I see him. I feel very blessed to be the person who gets to share all your pre-production work. This is definitely well worth the waiting.

  4. @JL A graphic tablet hooks up to my computer. I look at the screen the whole time. Wacom.com for more details, if you want to know.

@Draven Mine is the smaller of the middle range of products, and cost me about $300. The very lowest one is about $100 or $150. So depending on who you're gifting, yeah, it's reasonably priced.

Thank you both on saying how painterly it looks. I've been working hard to get to that level.

Kir, I'll finish him eventually. o,.,o
